Prabhava is the classical framework's own admission that some drug actions cannot be predicted from rasa, guna, virya or vipaka -- a category that most resembles modern molecular-specific pharmacology, but it is not the same as a modern 'idiosyncratic reaction,' and the honest grade here is a weak-to-analogical correspondence at best.

Ayurveda offers an honest label for what its own theory cannot predict, which is useful but explains no mechanism. Modern pharmacology, where it has identified the actual receptor or molecule, offers real mechanistic explanations for some effects once labeled prabhava -- but many prabhava-attributed effects, including its extension to gems and mantras, have no modern support at all.
